MILK/Famous Persons

Today I was fortunate enough to attend a press conference with the cast, screenwriter, and director of the Focus Features film MILK, out today, October 29th, in theaters nationwide. The film covers the life of Harvey Milk, the first gay man to be elected into political office. After many years campaigning (between 1973-8) and failed attempts at winning, Milk was elected District 5 Supervisor in January 1978. He was tragically assassinated by fellow Supervisor Dan White in October 1978. You can find more information (the full story, actually) on Milk's life on Wikipedia:

MILK, directed by Gus Van Sant, poignantly and powerfully recreates the life of the impassioned and widely inspirational figure Harvey Milk, while revealing to audiences worldwide a cornerstone of progress in the history of the gay rights movement. MILK is a beautifully affecting and important film. It is colorful, empowering, moving, and politically and historically invaluable.

Now for the juicy celeb deets, in the spirit of the gossip blog. Jaded film critics need not read. I shook Sean Penn's hand today! He chain smoked through the entire press conference.




I got Josh Brolin and James Franco to autograph my planner. Both extremely nice and good looking in real life. Down in the record books.

Check out the music DVD on BJM and the Dandy Warhols called DIG! It covers the volatile yet deeply admiring relationship between the bands, and their respective drug-binged-out rock reigns during the mid- to late-90's. As well as some music. Pretty awesome, especially the righteously lame Dandy W. video for "The Last High" in the extras portion.
